We Need Your Help!
Why? Some 40 to 44 million -- 21 to 23% -- of the 191 million adults who live in the United States show skills in the lowest literacy level. Many cannot total an entry on a deposit slip, understand directions at their workplace, or talk to their doctor.
Illiteracy profoundly impacts our society. Low literacy skills affect the lives of both adults and their children. U.S. Department of Education statistics reveal that 60% of prison inmates are illiterate, and 85% of all juvenile offenders have reading problems.
Illiteracy is a problem. You can be a part of the solution.
